Data Hall

Data Centre Cleaning Specialist Cleaners.

Data Centre Cleaning, Specialist Cleaners: “I am often asked why you should use specialist cleaning companies to clean your data hall”?

The answer is you do not have to but would you use an unqualified electrician in your Data Hall? That said before you appoint a cleaning company to clean your data hall you should find out the following about them.

  1. Do they have correct and sufficient insurances in place. General cleaning insurance will not cover for damage/downtime in your Data Hall caused by the cleaning. Especially if they have not told there insurance company what they are doing.
  2. Do the company and cleaners have correct skills and knowledge of working in data halls intricate environments. Not spraying chemicals into the airflow for example. Data Halls also have systems in place like EPO’s, VESDA, Gas Suppression etc that are not present in normal cleaning environments.
  3. Do they have the correct equipment. HEPA filtered vacuums, Air Scrubbers, Air Particulate Readers, Anti Static vacuum tools etc.
  4. Do they use correct and researched chemicals. This is very important cleaning chemicals used in general cleaning contain chemicals which are very harmful in Data Halls. Example, Chlorine (bleach, based surface cleaners) reacts with copper, forming copper(II) chloride, and can cause corrosion in the copper on PCB’s. Over time this will cause irrecoverable damage to the IT Equipment. When sprayed particles of chemical can find its way into the airflow then onto the PCB.
