Apps Room Broadcast Cleaning

ISO 14644-1 Class 8 Cleaning for Controlled Broadcast Environments

IT Cleaning Ltd provides specialist Apps Room Broadcast Cleaning as part of our Broadcast Technical Cleaning Service.
We clean all types of Apparatus Rooms (Apps Rooms) — including CAR, LAR, MAR, and other technical spaces that support broadcasting operations.

Why Apps Room Cleaning Is Essential

Apps rooms are the technical heart of broadcast infrastructure, housing sensitive equipment that operates continuously.
Like data centres, these rooms are controlled environments, requiring precise contamination control to ensure system reliability, performance, and compliance.

Dust and airborne particulates can:

“Contamination has been the indirect cause of more IT downtime than all the fires, floods, hurricanes, earthquakes, and disgruntled employees combined.” Jon William Toigo, Disaster Recovery Planning (3rd Edition)

Our Cleaning Specification

The Apps Room Cleaning Specification follows the same internationally recognised protocol used for data centre cleaning:

Clean to:

  • ISO 14644-1:2015 Class 8

  • All accessible surfaces free from dust (“white glove” standard)

This level of cleanliness ensures full control over both airborne and settled particulate contamination.

How We Achieve ISO 14644-1 Class 8

To maintain control of airborne particulates during cleaning, we deploy HEPA-filtered air scrubbers capable of filtering 2,500 m³ of air per hour to 0.3 microns (µm).
This prevents any dust dislodged during cleaning — vacuuming, wiping, or air movement — from recontaminating the environment.

Our process includes:

  1. Airborne particulate control using 0.3 µm HEPA air scrubbers.

  2. Settled dust removal via HEPA-filtered vacuums.

  3. Microfibre, damp, and tacky wiping systems for surface decontamination.

  4. ISO 14644-3 validation testing using calibrated air particle counters.

  5. Certification and reporting issued upon successful test results.

ISO Validation & Certification

After cleaning, we perform an ISO 14644-3 validation survey using our calibrated airborne particle counter.
From the test data, we produce a detailed report and ISO Certificate of Conformity confirming compliance with ISO 14644-1:2015 Class 8.

This includes:

  • Airborne particle test results

  • Settled dust verification (white glove test)

  • Date of certification and validity (1 year)

Certificates are valuable for:

  • Internal and external audits

  • Demonstrating best practice to contractors and visitors

  • Compliance verification for quality assurance and operational governance

Some of our clients proudly display their certificates in framed holders within their Apps Rooms — a visible sign of their commitment to environmental control.
